About
The silk warp is used in No Theatre as a visual object, one of delicacy…
This is what inspired our choice, when 30 years ago we founded our production company.
The films which we produce resemble us, as eclectic as they are coherent.
The coherence resides in the high quality constantly sought to accompany true auteur films with both vision and production intentions clearly established.
Yet eclectic, as borne from a constantly renewed curiosity which has brought us from art films to new subjects, and also new forms of writing. Our films therefore cover a wide range of themes and propose a rich diversity of approaches.
We have progressively enlarged our fields of activity by opening up to each authors’ desires, many of which are their first film, with the desire to bear witness to the world around us, particularly on an international level.
Over the past ten years we have invested considerably in the digital sphere, with the production of a web-doc devoted to the First Round of the Socialist Elections in 2011 (the emergence of the politics 2.0). But who is still talking about web-doc today? We have swung over to digital series, fiction and documentaries, then into VR work.
Today our catalogue contains more than 200 films distributed by Doc&Co, France Télévisions Distribution, Arte Distribution, Andana Films and Terranoa.
We regularly work with national museums such as the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Georges Pompidou, and every year produce eight to ten hours of programmes for French television channels, mainly Arte, France 5 and France 3, Planète, LCP, Vosges Télévisions and also local (TLSP) and foreign channels (RTBF in Belgium, TSR in Switzerland, AVROTROS in the Netherlands, YLE in Finland).
Les Films du Tambour de Soie has been short-listed on several occasions (in 2001, 2004 & 2011) for the Prix du Producteur Français awarded by the Procirep.
In 2012, Les Films du Tambour de Soie was awarded the Prix du Producteur Français for a documentary attributed by the Procirep.
In 2013, we were listed on the European Film Awards, in the best European animated film category for Jasmine by Alain Ughetto.
In 2014, we obtained the special prize awarded FIGRA jury for the film « An insidious Trap» by Laurent Esnault and Réjane Varrod.
In 2016, Etoile de la Scam, "Concrete Storie", by Lorenz Findeisen.
In 2018, "A thousand girls like me" by Sahra Mani was selectd at the Hot Docs (Canada), Sheffield (GB), IDFA (Netherlands) festivals and has received more than twenty international prizes (series in progress).
In 2019, "Les Heures Heureuses" by Martine Deyres received a special mention at the International Visions du Réel Festival.
Alexandre Cornu today shares the production of our projects with Muriel Sorbo. Our team has been expanded with the additionof an administrator, a payroll administrator, a production director and an assistant in production / broadcasting.
We produce films with the same sound determination to continue to nourish special projects and to enable powerful films to be shown. Television has changed, it changes every day, and we evolve too towards new forms of writing, new formats, new fields of experimentation as offered by the Web and the Cinema, to continue to develop our profession, one we love, in a world that is so particular…
