Sénégal. 2012. Dans un pays ravagé par la pauvreté, 5 amis décident de s'en sortir sans pour autant émigrer, faire quelque chose d'illégal ou de devenir un escort boy pour les femmes. Des jeunes hommes qui ont décidé de se consacrer entièrement à ce qu'ils savent faire de mieux, se battre pour être reconnus comme des champions de la lutte traditionnelle sénégalaise. Aujourd'hui, après cinq ans d'efforts, de larmes et de sueurs, ils sont prêts à être acceptés dans un groupe de lutteurs professionnels. "Wrestling In Dakar" est aussi une image surprenante de vitalité et de l'esprit africain de Dakar. Mais, sans masquer les difficultés rencontrées au quotidien, ce documentaire veut surtout montrer l'espoir et les chances qui s'offrent à ceux qui ont la volonté de changer leur vie. Une rare occasion pour ces jeunes athlètes qui y voient là l'accomplissement d'un rêve.

Edward Porembny was born in Poland and started his career in Paris, France, where he obtained a degree in Film and Art. He then moved to London where he moulded a successful career making documentaries, winning several awards in the process, for leading broadcasters around the world, including Channel 4, HBO, Canal +, France 2, France 3 and TF1. With Poland becoming part of the European Union, Edward went back to Poland and ventured into feature filmmaking. He founded the Polish production company AMP Polska and within a year he completed his first feature film, the UK/Polish coproduction, ‘Inheritance’.

Edward has worked with a large range of distinguished filmmakers including:

- Jerzy Kapuscinski – one of the most successful broadcasters in Poland, head of TVP Kultura.

- Jenny Barraclough - one of the most distinguished filmmakers in Britain, winner of BAFTA, ACE and EMMY.

-Timothy Burrill – Oscar nominated and "Palme d'Or" winner, one of the most successful British film producers, member of the British Film Commission and an Honorary Advisor to the Script Factory, UK.

Edward has attended Moonstone International, Strategic Marketing and Prime Packaging workshops and is an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) 2007 graduate. He is member of SCAM (Société civile des auteurs multimedia) in France, ZAIKS (Stowarzyszenie Autorów), ZAPA (Związek autorów i producentów audiowizualnych), SFP (Stowarzyszenie filmowców Polskich) in Poland and EDN (European Documentary Network) in Denmark.
